- My favorite project to create was the sgraffito plate. I enjoyed the detailed carving out of an image that I was able to choose from a black-painted plate. Now I will be able to use this plate which I made with the logo of the Chicago Blackhawks on it.
- A time I struggled was the large (smooth) coil vase. I was not able to make the outside of the pot as smooth as I wanted it to be. I was able to overcome this struggle by using rubber ribs to rub down the edges of the pot.
- When I first walked into ceramics, I had very little experience with working with clay. Over the semester, I have learned countless tricks to use to make all kinds of things with clay from pinch pots to coils to plates. The techniques I learned I was able to perfect over the semester. Looking back, I would not have been able to do my monster or the sgraffito at the beginning of the year without practicing with pinch pots and coil pots first. Overall, this semester has taught me how to work with the memory of the clay and shape a block of clay into almost anything I want.
